Barbara Jean West, 77, passed away July 24, 2017 in Crane, Texas, “She was welcomed to Heaven in the arms of our Lord” and her first grandson Brandon. She was born in McCamey, Texas to Bert Potts and wife Ollie on November 6, 1939.
When Barbara wasn’t busy with her three children, teaching morals, cooking meals, sewing their clothes, you could find her crafting, working in the garden, or supporting her local girl scout troops and church at Southside Baptist. She was troop leader for five years and community service director, and enjoyed Bingo. Barbara was always full of life anywhere she’d go. When her children were grown she was blessed to be a grandma, and great grandma known as “nanny”. She worked at Spotlight Restaurant and moved on to be manager at Colonial Inn Restaurant where she met so many new friends. After retirement Barbara opened “Crafts Unique” where every item in the store was handmade ranging from, leather, glass stain, to giant size doll house. Nanny enjoyed teaching her grandbabies how to make trash to treasures.
She leaves behind her loving husband Sherman West, three children, Becky Jordan and late husband Windell, James West and wife Peggy, and Sheron Miller and husband Doug all of Monahans, Texas. Four grandchildren Brandy Wolf and husband Robbie of Wink, Texas, Charlse Finley and husband Jared of Sanger, Texas, Savannah Stephens and Trey Dailey of Monahans, Texas, Andrew Rawlings of San Antonio, Texas, three great grandchildren Brea, Jax, Ariana, sisters, LaDonna Truelock and husband James Lee of Fort Stockton, Texas, Marvine Byrnes of Ozona, Texas, and numerous foster great grand babies.
Cory and I were very sorry to hear of your mother's death. It sounds like she was an amazing woman.

Beautiful video of Barbara's Celebration Of Life. Barbara was a wonderful, amazing and loving lady. I will miss her dearly. Each and every photo shows her smiling and her radiating love she has for her family and the happiness they brought her. I am so very blessed for knowing Barbara and my life is fuller and richer for the family experiences I shared with her and The West Family. Nancy West (sister In Law)

Barbara was the absolute first person we met when moving to Monahans in January 1981
She was a smiling face and lifeline for me in a strange town!
I still put up the 'jack in the box' photos of my two boys each year at Christmas that she took and made leather bound picture frames for chris Gilbreath and Lance Gilbreath.
We know your loss is great! What a legacy of Love she leaves behind for her family.
She beat us all to Jesus!
So terribly sorry for your loss
