Mary Marguerite Lamb Speed, 86, beloved Mother and Grandmother was called to her final resting place on October 30, 2018 in Monahans, TX.
Viewing will be on Thursday November 1, 2018 from 9:00am to 8:00pm at Harkey Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10:00am at Monahans Cemetery with Pastor Joshua Rieff officiating.
Mary was born September 20, 1932 in Los Angeles, CA to George Green Lamb and Marguerite Bertha Brunner Lamb. Mary went to school in Austin TX. She married Jimmy Worth Speed on February 19, 1949 in Austin, TX.
Jimmy and Mary were longtime residents of Monahans, working together side by side in Speed’s Automotive Service until November 2005.
Mary is preceded in death by both parents, her spouse Jimmy Worth Speed, son Jimmy Wayne Speed, daughter Bertha Yvonne Speed, sister Gerry Pittsford, brothers; George Lamb, Joe Bill Lamb and Danny Little.
Mary is survived by her son Carl Joe Speed and wife Glenna of Dripping Springs, TX, granddaughter Melinda (Mindy) Smith and husband Kenneth of Monahans, granddaughter Amanda Kurtz and husband Steve of Oneonta, AL, grandson Carl Joe Speed II of San Antonio, granddaughter Tanya Speed of San Antonio, granddaughter Mary Speed of Sweetwater, grandson Douglas Speed of Bellmead, great-grandson Joshua Smith and wife Erin of Monahans, great-grandson Justin Smith of Monahans, great-granddaughter Bethany Whitaker and husband Blake of Charleston, SC, great-great-grandson Blaine Smith, great-great-grandson Hunter Smith and numerous other nieces and nephews.
