June (Bug) Foster Calahan, age 89 was born June 29, 1929 in Floydada, TX, Floyd County, and she left this world on June 5, 2019 to join her Heavenly Father, her sweetheart of 68 years, and other loved ones who have gone on before. She was the third child and only daughter of Clarence Foster and Mable Clark Foster Smith.
June attended school in Floydada and graduated from Floydada High School. She attended Hardin Simmons University, Abilene, Tx, from 1946 - 1948 before being swept away by her sweetheart. She married Horace Seborn (H.S.) Calahan, Jr. on August 24, 1948. Being a city girl, she loving learned how to become a farmer's wife, even hauling grain to the elevator. As God led in their lives, she decided later to finish her education starting at Wayland Baptist University and finishing at Hardin Simmons University in 1966. She was in education for 30 years, but more importantly she was in faithful Christian service as the wife of a pastor, a missionary, choir member, Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School leader, and more. She was a loving Christian mother.
June was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her two brothers: Garland Foster and Bruce Foster.
She is survived by her four children. Diana (Dian) Bentley and husband Ron and their 3 children and spouses, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; Rose Cathy Baker and her 3 children and their spouses and 7 grandchildren; Vicky Stark and husband Gara and their 3 children and spouses and 4 grandchildren; Son, Barry Calahan and wife Sandra and their 3 children and spouses and 4 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at 2:00 pm at South Plains Baptist Church, Floyd County, TX. Burial will follow in Memorial Park, Floydada, TX.
