Alan Dale Neel, a longtime Monahans resident, was born December 17, 1954, in Oakland, California. He passed away unexpectedly on July 10, 2025, in Monahans. He was 70 years old.
A graveside service is scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Monahans Memorial Cemetery with Richard Knight officiating.
Alan left his earthly body with a servant’s heart while mowing his 97-year-old neighbor’s yard. He was always available to lend a helping hand to his family, especially his parents, as they faced the struggles and challenges of their golden years.
Alan was a 1973 graduate of Monahans High School. Completing the law enforcement academy at Odessa College, he served Ward County as a reserve deputy. He also served as a deputy sheriff in Sterling and Williamson Counties. Back home to Monahans he retired from Graco.
Alan is survived by his parents, Margaret and Dwayne Light of Monahans; sister, Cheri Fletcher of Granbury; his brother, Gilbert Neel of Kermit. He also leaves behind his son, Brian Potts of Miami, Oklahoma; daughter, Sabrina Padilla of San Angelo; son, Tyler Krone of Grape Creek; son, Cutler Neel of Lubbock; three grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Doil and Ethel Hubbard of Monahans; his uncle, Ray Hubbard of Fort Worth; and his sister, Sandra Frayer of Pratteville, Alabama.
Honorary Pallbearers are as follows: Brian Potts, Tyler Krone, Cutler Neel, Stephen Neel, Jeremy Fletcher, Jarrod Hale, Jason Hale, Joshua Neel.
