Alfred McAfee, 69, of Monahans, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, in Odessa, Texas. He was born in Stamford, Texas, on August 23, 1955, to Monroe McAfee and Jimmie Frances Washington. He grew up with a love for sports, competition, and community.
Alfred attended school in Hamlin, Texas, where his athleticism and determination shined. He continued his education at Ranger Junior College before proudly enlisting in the United States Navy, where he served his country with honor and dedication. Outside of his professional and service life, Alfred enjoyed spending time with family and friends, often around a table playing dominos—a game he approached with the same competitive spirit he brought to sports and life. His warm presence, laughter, and strength of character touched everyone who knew him.
Alfred is preceded in death by his parents, Monroe McAfee and Jimmie Francis Lane; brothers, Albert “Cakee” McAfee, Frank Lane Jr., and Delbert “Ray” Thompson; and his beloved daughter, Jamie.
He is survived by the love of his life, Tracy of Monahans, Texas; his children, Quincy McGee (Michelle) of Abilene, Texas, Melissa Oranday of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Kent Lee of Abilene, Texas, Alfreda and Constance McAfee of Ironton, Ohio, Rontu Walker of Odessa, Texas, Jalin Smith (ToKosh) of Carrollton, Texas, and Jadah Smith of Alpine, Texas; sisters, VJ Willis and Ida Berry of Monahans, Texas; brother, Frank Dornel Lane (Dixie) of Killeen, Texas; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.
A celebration of Alfred’s life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church in Monahans, Texas, officiated by Pastor Jeppie Wilson. Interment will be held at Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas with military honors at a later date.
Pallbearers are as follows: Dornel Lane, Chance J. Lane, Markquan Thompson, Willie Willis Jr., Mykael Lane, and Roy Gray.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie Eaton and Jose Vasquez.
Alfred’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones, and his memory will be cherished forever.
