Alice L. Muniz

Alicia “Licha” Muniz, 93, of Monahans Texas, passed away on Mother’s Day, May 11th, 2025. A day already imbued with love and remembrance, her passing coinciding with her beloved late husband’s birthday. As if destined to rise and dance with him again in Heaven.

Licha was born on July 8th,1931 in Fort Stockton Texas, to Andreas and Teodora Lujan. She married Alberto “Tito” Muniz, the love of her life. On September 13th, 1947, in Odessa, Texas. They moved from Odessa to Monahans, where they saw an opportunity to open their business, there she helped build and maintain the HWY 80 Radiator Shop. She also had a hand in raising her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Licha never met a stranger, she loved traveling, camping, and meeting people. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Additionally, she attended St. John’s Catholic Church, where she was a member of The Sacred Heart and Cuzitas (De Colores).

She is preceded in death by her husband Alberto “Tito” Muniz, her parents Andreas and Teodora Lujan, brother Sonny Lujan, Grandson Robert Venegas, and son-in-laws Mario Rios and Elijio Venegas.

Left to cherish her beautiful memory are son Joe Muniz, daughters Mary Venegas, Virgina Rios, and Betty (Manuel) Gonzales, and sisters Ida “Chia” Hernandez of Dallas, Texas and Maria Elida Parker of Oregon.

Grandchildren Joe (Susan) Venegas, Lori (Benny) Barrera, Maris (Aden) Sanchez, Ryan (Bridget) Gonzales, Kisa Rodriguez, and Tim (Alicia) Acosta. And 19 Great Grandchildren, and 7 Great Great Grandchildren.

A public viewing will be held Friday May 16th, 2025, from 1pm-8pm. Rosary will be Saturday May 17, 2025 at 12 pm and Mass will follow at 1pm at St. John’s Catholic Church. Burial will be held at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
