Ascencion “Chonito” Quintela Montoya reunited in heaven with his wife and daughter on August 27, 2025, at the age of 87. He was born on May 10, 1938 in San Antonio del Bravo to Isidro Montoya and Braulia Quintela Montoya.
As a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, resilience, faith and hard work. Chonito was known most for his unwavering commitment to his family. He never missed a family gathering or event, or the opportunity to love on his favorite people: his daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, his animals, and working as supervisor for Airfox. He was the most hardworking man, demonstrating his work ethic until he was physically unable.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alicia Montoya, and precious daughter, Virginia Montoya; his parents Isidro and Braulia Montoya; sisters: Francisca Guerrero, Cristina Coronado, Maria Sanchez; brothers: Alejandro Madrid, Isidro Q. Montoya, and Pilar Montoya; his dogs: Ranchero and Pote, and his horse Zota.
He is survived by his daughters: Olga Armendariz and Graciela Montoya; grandchildren: Brenda Gardea and husband Trinidad, Christopher Madrid and wife Lexy, Crystal Madrid and husband Gabriel, Kimberly Madrid, Nathan Armendariz and wife Sadie, and Karizma Armendariz and husband Brent; great grandchildren: Yadelly Alicia, Kaydri Jayde, Christopher Eli, Syndale Raelyn, Aileen Alicia, Kamryn Grace, Gracyn Renea, Karter Dax, Lainey James, and Aubree Ann; and his best friend: his dog, Frances.
Pall bearers include: Christopher Madrid, Nathan Armendariz, Brenda Gardea, Crystal Madrid, Kimberly Madrid, Karisma Armendariz, Trinidad Gardea, and Gabriel Sigala.
