David Brian Akins

David Brian Akins, 57, of Monahans, Texas, passed away on May 5, 2026, in Monahans, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at First Baptist Church with Chris Powell officiating.

Brian was born on February 24, 1969, in McKinney, Texas to David Ray Akins and Janice Warddean Akins. He attended school and graduated from McKinney High School. He worked for Archrock as a service manager. Brian enjoyed his dogs, hunting, dirt track races, and most importantly spending time with his grandsons Oaklan and Hendrix. Brians advice carried wisdom, and his love for his family was constant and unconditional. No matter what life looked like, his daughter Katie and grandsons Oaklan and Hendrix were always the center of his world. He adored those boys. Being their G-Dad made him proud in a way everyone around him could see.

He is preceded in death by his parents David Ray and Janice Warddean Akins. His Grandparents W. E. ‘Cotton” and Dennie Evans. His Uncles Tommy Akins and Stephen Evans.

Brian leaves behind his daughter Katie; his beloved grandsons Oaklan and Hendrix; sisters Robin Romero and Tammy Aulds, his brother James Akins, Aunt Gita Akins and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Brian wasn’t perfect, but he was real and true. He cared deeply for his family, protected the people he loved, and left behind memories that will stay with them forever. His absence will be felt every single day.

He was deeply loved. He will be deeply missed, and he will never be forgotten.
