Eleno Cano, son of Paula and Placido Cano, was born March 23, 1934, in Alpine, Texas. He was a soldier in the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army and served honorably in the Korean War.
He was united in holy matrimony to Leonor Torres Cano in October 1958. This union was blessed with eight children. Leonor preceded him in death in February 1997. Eleno was united in holy matrimony to Barbara Cano in January 2000. He was blessed with four stepchildren. Barbara preceded him in death in May 2013.
Eleno was an active member of St. John The Apostle & Evangelist Catholic Church and played in the church choir for many years. He departed this life on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 88 years old, while surrounded by his loving family. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Gracie Torres Rodriguez, his parents, and many siblings.
His life will forever be cherished through his children Eleno Cano and wife Ester Cano of Monahans, Texas, Tina Aguilar of Monahans, Texas, Anita and husband Frank Vela of Iraan, Texas, Debbie and Manuel Rodriguez of Monahans, Texas, Lupe and husband Mike Valenzuela of Monahans, Texas, Lisa Cano of Monahans, Texas, Edward and Anita Cano of Monahans, Texas. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rudy Sotelo, Roger Sotelo, Frank Vela Jr., Aron Olvera, Alex Ligon and Victor Cano.
