Elizabeth Heath, 98, passed away June 5, 2017 in Monahans, Texas. She was born on August 6, 1918 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Albert and Agnes Walters. Elizabeth married the love of her life Robert (Bob) Heath on June 15, 1946 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Elizabeth moved to Monahans, Texas with her husband in 1950, where she worked in the oil industry for a short time after her husband was tragically killed in an oil field accident. At that time, she was also holding down a job as librarian at Monahans High School. Elizabeth was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Monahans, Texas. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and established the church library. Elizabeth worked at the Ward County Library from 1951 to 1955, during the four years, she saw the need for a larger and more complete library. She helped established the Children's and Periodical sections. Elizabeth then taught freshman and sophomore English at Monahans High School, and created the MHS Travel Club in 1958. Elizabeth also helped established Ward County Archives on May 31, 1982 where she worked until she retired.
