Erica Dawn Smith

Erica Dawn Smith, age 44, passed away on September 26, 2025 in Monahans, Texas after a brief illness. She was born on November 7, 1980, in Odessa, Texas.

Though she faced challenges that prevented her from speaking with words, Erica communicated volumes through her expressive eyes and ever-present sweet smile. Her presence radiated warmth and gentleness, touching the hearts of those around her in profound ways. She was nicknamed “Gaga” by her brother Billy because he could not say her name when he was very young.

Erica had been a resident at the West Texas group home in Monahans for many years. She was cared for and loved by an amazing staff.

Erica is lovingly remembered by her mother, Luanne Weber; her brothers Willis Smith and his wife Nikki, along with their sons Tyler (and his wife Bailey) and Luke. Billy Martin and his wife Melissa. She is also remembered by her sisters Jeni Smith and Scott; Staslie Martin and Kyzen,Michelle Martin Murray and her sons Jay (with Christian and Rowan) Michael (with Autumn); Melissa Martin; Linda Rangel and Natalie. She was preceded in death by her father, Gary Smith; stepfathers Terry Weber and Mike Martin.

Erica’s life was a testament to quiet strength and enduring love. Her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. She is now an Angel in Heaven.
