Fred H. Burk was born in Earlsboro, Oklahoma, on April 8, 1930, to Edgar Henry Burk and Rula Emma (Sloan) Burk. Mr. Burk moved to Monahans,Texas in 1935 where he remained a resident until 2014, at which time he moved to Stephenville, Texas to be closer to his children. Mr. Burk served in the Army from February 1951 to January 1953, during which time he was assigned to the 555th MP Co and the 94th M.P.Btn. Mr.Burk was awarded the Korean Service Medal W/1 Bz Star and the United Nations Service Medal for his service during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Burk was a building and painting contractor until he began his career as a mail carrier.
Mr. Burk was proceeded in death by his parents as well as two sons, David Burk and Douglas Burk. Mr. Burk is survived by his brother, Samuel L. Burk of Monahans, Texas, and his sister, Margaret Browning of Monahans, Texas. He is also survived by three daughters, Debra Burk of Euless, Texas, Dana Hardegree of Clyde, Texas, and Diana Green and husband, Ronny, of Dublin, Texas; four grandchildren, Mary Martinez and husband, Joseph, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Elizabeth Young and husband, Aaron, of Abilene, Texas, Skylar Russell of Dublin, Texas, and Rheagen Russell of Dublin,Texas. Mr. Burk is also survived by three beautiful great grandchildren.
