Gary Donald Huey, 59, of Monahans, Texas, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home surrounded by family on August 21, 2026. Born on February 22, 1967, Gary's life was a testament to devotion to family, hard work, and an indelible love for the outdoors.
A dedicated husband and family man, Gary found joy in carrying forward his father’s legacy in their family business Don Huey Services, embodying a tireless work ethic and gentle resilience. Those fortunate enough to know him will forever cherish his playful spirit and ability to fill any moment with laughter. His patience and calm demeanor were as constant and comforting as a gentle breeze.
Whether fishing under a wide blue sky or camping beneath a canopy of stars, Gary relished the embrace of nature. His passions extended to all living things, reflected in his joy of breeding and raising game roosters. In his youth, his energies were expressed on the football field and through running track, where he ran with determination and strength.
Although some details of his surviving family are not stated here, it is evident that his legacy lives on in those who shared his journey. The humor, grace, and wisdom he imparted will echo through the lives of many.
Gary is preceded in death by his father, Donald Lee Huey; and niece, Kelsey Francisco.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Torres Huey; his devoted children, Nicholas Garcia, Angela Roxann Jacquez and husband, Juan Jacquez, Anna Burdine and husband, Travis Burdine, and Joshua Huey; his 9 grandchildren; his mother, Beverly Huey; his sister, Debra Francisco and husband, Brian Francisco; an extended amount of family and a host of friends.
His absence leaves a tender void, yet the fond stories and cherished memories ensure his spirit remains ever present.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Harkey Funeral Home from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services celebrating Gary's life will occur at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Immanuel Baptist Church, officiated by David Kliewer, followed by the interment at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
Honoring Gary as pallbearers will be Chad Slade, Ronnie Slade, Mike Slade, Wayne Willmon, Brian Francisco, Eddie Nelms, Juan Jacquez, and Joe Carter.
In the laughter he shared and the warmth of his presence, Gary's memory continues to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved him.
