Gavin Leo “Nappy” Gering, 34, of Monahans, Texas, tragically passed away on July 30, 2026.

Serenity Prayer: Grant me the serenity to accept the things I can’t change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Gavin was born on February 20, 1992, in Temple, Texas, to Robert DeWain Gering and Katherine Lucille Brown Gering.

A mechanic by trade, Gavin was known for his hardworking spirit and willingness to lend a hand. He enjoyed working with his hands and took pride in the work he did in the automotive industry. To those who knew him best, he was affectionately known as “Nappy,” a nickname that reflected the familiarity and love shared among family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William David “Truckhound” Brown; maternal grandmother, Rose Marie Tolkmitt Brown; and his nephew, Payton Frank Pesina.

Gavin shared his life with his wife, Myranda Rashell Lucero, and daughter, Autumn Gale Gering of Monahans. He also leaves behind his loving mother, Katherine Brown Gering of Monahans; sister, Abbegale Gering Pesina of Monahans; brother-in-law, Cat Perez of Monahans; fraternal grandmother, Gale Anderson of Wyoming; aunt, Shannon Shilling of Wyoming; nephew, Kayden Ray Pesina of Monahans; niece, Jade Aubrey Perez of Monahans; along with many other family members and friends who will cherish the memories they shared with him.

A funeral service celebrating Gavin’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Harkey Chapel, with Larry Jasso officiating. Cremation will follow.

Though his time on earth was far too short, Gavin’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
