Gloria Olibas Hernandez

Gloria Olibas Hernandez, 81, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on June 1, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Gloria was born on April 30, 1945, in Monahans, Texas, to Angel and Elvira Olibas. She was a woman of deep faith, kindness, and compassion whose life was dedicated to serving others and her family. For many years, Gloria worked as an office manager at St. John the Apostle and Evangelist Catholic Church, where she became a familiar and beloved presence within the parish community. She was a member of Altar Society, Rosary Group, and Sacred Heart and Cursillista. Her commitment to the church and her unwavering devotion to God touched the lives of countless people.

Gloria was known for her forgiving spirit, warm heart, and willingness to help anyone in need. She treasured time spent with her family and was especially proud of the generations she helped nurture and guide. Her gentle nature, loving advice, and steadfast faith will be remembered by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Prajedes Hernandez; her parents, Angel and Elvira Olibas; and her brothers, Angel, Juan, and Pascual Olibas.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Benny Hernandez and wife Shirley, Olivia Swanson and husband, Dave, Floyd Hernandez and wife, Alicia, Steve Hernandez and wife, Zannette; her sister, Anita Valencia, and her brother, Gomesindo Olibas. Ten grandchildren, Cody, Bailey, Chance, Stevie, Brent, Price, Olivia, Eli, Benny, and Davee; seven great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends.

There will be a viewing at Harkey Funeral Home from 11:45 AM - 12:45 PM on Friday, June 5, 2026. The Rosary will be recited at 1:00 PM followed by Mass at 1:30 PM on Friday, June 5, 2026, at St. John the Apostle and Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Victorino officiating. Interment will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brent Swanson, Benny Hernandez, Cody Hernandez, Chance Hernandez, Price Hernandez, and Eli Hernandez.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Vasquez and Danny Anderson.

Gloria’s life was a testament to faith, love, and service. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and devotion that will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
