Gonzalo Garcia

Gonzalo Holguin Garcia, age 72, of Barstow, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022, in Odessa, Texas.

Visitation will take place at Harkey Funeral Home in Monahans, Texas on Thursday, December 15, 2022, starting at 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. Mass will be held at St. John the Apostle & Evangelist Catholic Church on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 11:00 AM.

Gonzalo Garcia was born in Pecos, Texas to Pablo Mendez Garcia and Ignacia Holguin on April 20, 1950. Gonzalo attended school in Denver, Colorado but made his way back to Pecos where he met his wife, Cruz Ornelas. Gonzalo can be remembered working the summers at the Barstow Swimming Pool by many.  He enjoyed hanging out with family and friends, listening to music (especially oldies), and having a nice cold beer.  Gonzalo also enjoyed watching boxing and watching his Denver Broncos play on Sundays.  He will be missed immensely.

Gonzalo is preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Ignacia Garcia; brother, Paul Garcia; sisters, Beatrice Gomez and Bertha Medina.

Gonzalo is survived by his loving wife, Cruz Ornelas Garcia; his children, Eric Garcia, Ericka Garcia, Fabian Garcia and wife, Jennifer, Jose Cruz Garcia, Joseph Garcia, Jesus Garcia and wife, Catarina; 4 brothers; 3 sisters; and seventeen grandchildren.

Pallbearers are as follows: Christian Perez, Derrick Perez, Gregory Piazza, Raymond Garcia, Adam Garcia, Fabian Garcia Jr., Angel Juarez, and Steven Ornelas.

The family of Gonzalo Garcia wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all the staff personnel at Medical Center Hospital and to St. John the Apostle & Evangelist Church organizations which include Sacred Heart Society, Bereavement Committee, Hospitality Committee, Choir Group led by Antonio & Margie Martinez and the Pastoral Staff along with their coordinators.
