Imogene Wanda Pickering, 92 formerly of Monahans, died Friday, November 11, 2016 in Waco, Texas at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center.
Imogene was born June 28, 1924 in Yale, Oklahoma to Susie and Clarence Stoops, she was raised and educated in Yale. During WW II Imogene moved to Wichita, Kansas and did her part to support the war effort at home by working in an airplane assembly factory. She married Lester Travis "L.T." Pickering on March 29, 1945 in Quay, Oklahoma. The Pickering family moved to west Texas and lived in several oil field communities prior to moving to Monahans in 1964. Imogene began working at Monahans Convalescent Center in the 1970's and later left to become a homemaker. Mrs. Pickering was a member of the Church of Christ.
Preceded in death by her parents and her husband L. T. who died May 25, 2006.
Survivors include her daughter Ann Pickering and son Louis Pickering and wife Reva of Waco, Texas; grandchildren David Pickering and Kathleen Pickering of Monahans; great grandsons; Braden Pickering and Jake Hickman; step-great granddaughter, Reva Dillard; sister, Deline Cleveland and husband Gerald of Yale, OK; and sister-in-law Lorene Martz of Dallas, TX.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 14 at Monahans Memorial Cemetery with Billy Reed officiating. Pallbearers will be David Pickering, Braden Pickering and Jake Hickman. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Harkey Funeral Home.
