I’sis Lanay Garza, 22, of Odessa, Texas, was born on September 10, 2003, and passed away on April 21, 2026.
A viewing is scheduled for Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Harkey Funeral Home and on Monday, April 27, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Grandfalls Royalty Auditorium with burial to follow at Tamarisk Cemetery.
I’sis was a light — bright, warm, and impossible to ignore. She was fun, bubbly, and full of life, the kind of person whose laughter filled a room and whose presence made people feel seen and loved. She carried a spirit that was both gentle and strong, and she lived her life with a heart wide open.
Above all, she was a mother. Her daughter, Za’Nyla Avani Garza-Horn, was her world, her purpose, and her greatest love. Everything I’sis did, she did with her daughter in mind—fiercely, selflessly, and with a devotion that will never fade.
She is preceded in death by her great grandmother, Irene Ruiz; grandpa, Danny Ruiz; great grandmother, Josepha Valenzuela; great grandfather, Calixto Valenzuela; her uncle, Michael Garza; her tia, Rosa Valenzuela; nephew, Terrance Don Blackwell.
She is survived by her parents, Terry and Anavel Butler of Grandfalls, Aracely Soto and partner, Cesar Arrevalo; Daniel Garza and partner, Evalyn Yancy of Odessa; daughter; Za'Nyla Avani Garza-Horn; siblings, Houston Garza of Indiana, Calixto Garza , Za’Bree Soto, Sinasta Garza, A’riel Arrevalo of Odessa, Kay’lee and husband, Brandon Blackwell, Colton and wife, Christina Butler, Zachary Butler and Kam'Bri Clemmer of Grandfalls; step-siblings, Faith Yancy, Hope, and Simon Escarsega; her two nieces; her five nephews; her grandfather, Alfredo Soto of Mexico; her grandmother, Margarita Soto of Odessa; her grandmother, Mona Garza; her grandmother, Charlotte Butler of Grandfalls, her uncle, Fernie Williams of Odessa, extended family and friends; along with all who were lucky enough to know and love her. And although her time here was far too short, I’sis loved deeply. She lived fiercely. And she leaves behind a love that does not end, it simply echoes in the laughter she shared, in the memories she created, and most of all, in the life of her daughter.
She will be carried in our hearts always—remembered in the little things, felt in the quiet moments, and missed in ways words will never fully hold.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever our I’sis. Our little Tanga Tanga.
Pallbearers are as follows: Houston Garza, Calixto Garza, Colton Butler, Sinasta Garza, Zachary Butler, Jeremiah Soto.
