Obituary

Ismael Gallegos Salcido was called to join the Lord on June 6, 2026, at the age of 71. Ismael was born in Fort Davis, Texas on January 1, 1955. During his time on Earth, he served the Lord as a loyal husband, father, grandpa, patriots’ fan, and cowboy. A hardworking man, he retired after more than 45 years of dedicated service in the oil field. Ismael loved long days on the ranch, his family, hunting, garlic, the Dodge and his old friend Johnnie Walker.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Harkey Funeral Home Chapel. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 7:00 PM at St. John the Apostle and Evangelist Catholic Church. Mass is scheduled for Thursday, June 11. 2026, at 1:00 PM at St. John the Apostle and Evangelist Catholic Church with burial to follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.

Ismael met his wife, Josie, in Monahans, Texas, and they were married on October 8, 1979. Together, they built a beautiful life. Throughout their 46 years of marriage, they shared a deep commitment to serving others, grounding their lives in faith and love. Ismael was a loving father to Amy Dutchover, Glen Dutchover, Shelton Urquidez, Carly Martinez, and her husband, Jaime Martinez Sr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmen and Gabriel Salcido; his daughter, Gabriela Salcido; his siblings, Senaida Avila, Ruben Salcido, Dora Salcido, Dora Rincon, Belia Garcia, Gabriel “Sony” Salcido; and his mother-in-law, Josefa H. Ortiz.

Ismael’s legacy lives on through his seven grandchildren, Graylen Rodriguez and her husband, Ricky, Ruben Segura, Andrew Segura, Roman Segura and his wife, Ana, Jordan Martinez, Jaime Martinez Jr., and Jalen Martinez; his four great-grandchildren: Italia Marquez, Eliana Marquez, Jacob Rodriguez, and Quireno "Miklo" Moreno; his siblings: Santiago Salcido, Ramona Seymour, Joann Sanchez and her husband, Edward Sanchez, and Olivia Salgado. 

Pallbearers are as follows: Andrew Segura, Ruben Segura, Roman Segura, Jordan Martinez, Jaime Martinez, Jr., Glen Dutchover, and Shelton Urquidez.

Honorary Pallbearers are as follows: Jaime Martinez, Sr., George Salcido, and Hilary Petree.

Loved by all that knew him, Ismael Salcido will be deeply missed. His family finds great comfort knowing that he is at peace with his Lord and Savior.
