James Nelson Lee, 79, of Monahans, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026.

James was born and raised in Monahans, Texas, and spent his life building a family, working hard, and making his mark on the people and community around him. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, James carried the values of service, dedication, and perseverance throughout his life.

Following his military service, James worked in the oilfield and wireline industry, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and determination. He was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for those he loved.

James was preceded in death by his parents, William Bill Lee and Helen Lucille Nelson.

He is survived by his son, Jay Lee and wife, Lynette; granddaughter, Aubree; his fur baby, Sadie; along with numerous extended family members and friends who will carry his memory with them.

Those who knew James will remember his love for car shows and motorcycles. His life was one of hard work, service, family, and memories that will remain with those fortunate enough to have known him.

A service honoring James’s life will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Harkey Funeral Home in Monahans, Texas.

James may be gone from this world, but the impact of his life will remain in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
