Joe A. Olvera, 41, of Monahans, Texas passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at home in the comfort of his family.
Visitation for Joe will be held at Harkey Funeral Home on Monday, August 14, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 7:00 PM in the Harkey Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be Wednesday, August 16, 2023, 10:00 AM at St. John the Apostle and Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Joe officiating. Interment is to follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
Joe was born to Mary Lou Lara on February 26, 1982, in Alpine, Texas. He graduated from Marathon ISD in 2000. He loved the Texans, Astros, music and playing basketball with his sons. He enjoyed spending time with his friend Manuel Juardo, and grandson, Mark Olvera. He was a father of two sons Joe Aron and Anthony Olvera. Grandparent to one grandson Mark Olvera and a great friend to many.
Joe is preceded in death by his cousin, Derek Mark Olvera and his maternal grandmother, Antonia Olvera.
Joe is survived by his sons, Joe Aron Olvera and Anthony Olvera; daughter-in-laws, Jacie Fields and Rachel Blanco; brothers, Domingo Lara and Juan Hernandez; sister, Lita Hernandez; mother, Mary Lou Lara; cousins, Jorge Zamudio, Johnny Zamudio, Joe Pineda, David Olvera; grandson, Mark Liam Olvera; best friend, Manuel A. Jurado.
Pallbearers are as follows: Jorge Zamudio, Domingo Lara, Manuel Jurado, Juan Hernandez, David Olvera, and Alyssa Olvera.
