Joyce Womack Norris, 89, of Monahans, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, in Odessa, Texas.
Joyce was born on September 12, 1935, to Thomas Womack and Geneva Word Womack. She was a devoted Christian who attended Shiloh Baptist Church and lived her life with unwavering generosity, strength, and honesty.
Joyce was known for her big heart—always willing to lend a hand or give what she had to help others. She never sugarcoated things and told the truth with grace, humor, and boldness. She had a soft spot for animals and could not bear to see them mistreated. Her love for her family, especially her grandchildren, was boundless.
She found joy in simple pleasures—watching Jimmy Swaggart on television, playing games on her phone, scrolling through Facebook, and doing crossword and word search puzzles. She loved the color purple and had a strong dislike for politics, though she proudly lived as a law-abiding citizen. In her earlier years, Joyce enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and reading. She was also a nurse and a mother figure to many beyond her own family.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leland Norris; her parents; and five siblings.
She is survived by her siblings, Barbara Jean Johnson and husband Monty, Jackie Womack and wife Susie, and James Womack and wife Kim; her children, George Norris and wife Phyllis, Paula Hines, and Wesley Norris and wife Tamara; her grandchildren, Daysha, Zackry, Kasie, Shannon, and Jaylynn; as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who will continue to carry her memory in their hearts.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Shiloh Baptist Church with Reverend Jeppie Wilson officiating.
Joyce’s love, candor, and care for others will never be forgotten.
