Karen Kay Hudson Sellers, age 83, passed from this life on December 7, 2023 at her home in Wickett, Texas.

Karen was born on August 26, 1940 in New Martinsville, WV to parents, Charles Ray (Mutt) and Wanda Mae Hudson. She grew up in her beloved home state of West Virginia and graduated from Magnolia High School of New Martinsville, WV in 1958.

 

Karen married the love of her life, Thomas Calvin Sellers on June 18,1960, and they were married for over 63 years. The couple moved to West Texas for work in 1961, and lived and raised their children there. Karen worked as the Cafeteria Manager at Gensler Elementary School in Wickett until her retirement in 1996. She was much loved and remembered by many from their school days as she treated each child with love and kindness on a daily basis. Karen was also a Wickett 4-H Club leader for years and a member of the Third & Dwight Church of Christ. She loved the outdoors and working in her yard, tending all her animals including pigs, goats, rabbits, chickens, horses, and beloved dogs and cats. She was a wonderful cook and liked to feed and nurture her family.

Karen is preceeded in death by her parents, her sister, Shirley Ponder, her brothers, Charles (Chuck) Hudson, and Vaughn Hudson.

Karen is survived by her husband, Calvin Sellers of Wickett, TX, her sister, Barbara Rine of Mesa, AZ, sons, Thomas Kevin Sellers and wife, Michelle of Fort Stockton, TX, and Charles Kent Sellers and wife, Julie of Wickett, TX. Three Grandchildren - T.J. Sellers of Midland, TX, Tabatha Sellers, of Snyder, TX and Jordan Hall and husband, Christopher of Monahans, TX and 7 great­grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

A private memorial service and celebration of Karen’s life will be held at a later date with burial to follow at Mt. Olive Cemetary in New Martinsville, WV.
