Kellie Dawn Acosta,65, of Grandfalls, Texas, passed away on September 6, 2025. She was born on July 26, 1960, in Tacoma, Washington, to William H. Redford and Joyce Yarbrough Redford.
Kellie proudly served as a Dallas Police Officer and dedicated 20 years of her life to law enforcement. Her strength, courage, and devotion to protecting others left a lasting impact on her community and colleagues.
Beyond her career in law enforcement, Kellie lived a life full of passion and accomplishment. She was a three-time world champion in barrel racing, a gifted horsewoman who loved the thrill of competition and the bond she shared with her horses. She also served as the librarian in Grandfalls, Texas, where her kindness and generosity touched countless lives.
Kellie had a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs and strays, always offering them love and care. She was the happiest when surrounded by her beloved animals and her horses, which brought her endless joy.
A viewing will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Harkey Funeral Home. In honor of Kellie, a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM at the Grandfalls ISD Auditorium with burial to follow at Tamarisk Cemetery in Grandfalls.
Kellie is preceded in death by her son, Chip Terry; father, William H Redford; mother, Joyce Redford; and brother, William H Redford Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Lee Acosta of Grandfalls, Texas; son, Matthew Terry; grandson, Raylan Terry; stepdaughter, Megan Williams; granddaughter, Braylyn Williams and a host of other family members, friends, and her beloved animals.
Kellie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community. Her legacy of service, compassion, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
