Larry Bryer

February 26, 1946 — January 19, 2017

Larry J Bryer passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017 in Odessa, Texas. He was born on February 26, 1946 to Melvin Lee and Nora Louise Teague Bryer in Beeville, Texas. He married Cinda Lue Shipman on February 15, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas, and was sealed to her for time and all eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on December 12, 1975.
Larry worked as a self-employed welder for 36 years. In addition to his successful company, Larry Bryer Welding and Construction, he also owned and operated other businesses including Monahans's first local internet service provider, Ultravision; a traveling carnival for kids called Party on Wheels, which included a Ferris wheel, a train, a bounce house, and a bounce slide; and a laser etching company, Lonestar Laser Art, where he and Cinda created and sold personalized mementos at fairs and festivals all over west Texas. Early in his career he worked in Scotland and in a few places in Africa.
He was an elder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served faithfully in many capacities since his baptism in Monahans on May 14, 1971. For the past six years he has been teaching early morning seminary, which was a joy to him and his high-school-age students, whom he loved dearly. He also enjoyed serving as district clerk in the Fort Stockton District, as a counselor in the Monahans Branch Presidency, and as a Sunday School President. One of his major contributions to the work of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ was through supporting his daughters on full-time eighteen-month missions to teach His gospel, of which Larry had a strong testimony.
Larry enjoyed cooking, talking politics and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Larry was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Monahans Masonic Lodge and the Three Rivers Masonic Lodge in Three Rivers, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Cinda Bryer, three daughters, Priscilla Kirkpatrick and husband David of Leakey, Texas Stephanie Cagle and husband Lance of Monahans, Texas, Kimberly Shannon Bryer of Odessa, Texas, five grandchildren, Kayla Kirkpatrick, Aaron Cagle and wife Cole, Andrew Cagle, Bradley Cagle, Matthew Cagle; and four great grandchildren, Aiden Garnett, Auryn Garnett, Trinity Cagle, and Eleanore Cagle.
