Louis Edward "George" Willis passed away on August 11, 2016 in Monahans.
Louis was born in Haskell, TX to Tom Willis and Emma Hammond on February 15, 1955. Louis was reared and educated in Stamford, Texas. He entered the US navy out of high school after his discharge her returned to Stamford where he lived until moving to Monahans in the early 1980's where he worked for Bariod and Curley Inspection. Due to health disability he would work for the Grigry Family as he could. George married VJ Thompson on February 15, 1991 in Monahans. He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. During his time in Monahans George was very active with the youth supporting the local sports teams was the joy of his life. He was also a very loving husband and father to his family.
George is preceded in death by his parents, Tom Willis and Emma Hammond; brothers, Milton Jones, Jimmy Cooper, East Willis, Tommy Ray Willis and; sisters, Nellie Ray Willis, Patricia Ann Willis.
He is survived by his loving wife VJ Willis, and their children, Tomei McPeake, Tre Gomez, both still at home; Brenton Willis, and wife Nila, Latonya Blake and husband Paul, Latashia Thompson, Dominique Estorga, all of Monahans, Quincy Jackson of Abilene, and Markquan Thompson and wife Megan of Fort Worth. George is also survived by his Brother Willie James Willis of Monahans and three sisters Fedora Young, Melissa Griffin, Lenora Adams all of Crockett, TX, and eight grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Willis will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Harkey Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services for Mr. Willis will be held at the 1st Baptist Church of Monahans on August 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jeppie Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
