Lucille Marie Covensky (O'Brien)

Lucille Marie Covensky (O'Brien), age 92, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, in Monahans, Texas. 

Born on August 16, 1933, in Boston, Massachusetts, Lucille was the daughter of George and Lucille (Frank) O'Brien. She spent her early years in New England and graduated from Manchester High School in 1950. Her life’s journey eventually brought her to Texas.

 Lucille was a bookkeeper and worked for a local accounting firm before retiring. 

She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Barbara Griswald of Andover CT, her children: Jim Covensky of Gloucester, MA; Gayle Wocoski of Jensen Beach FL; and Mark Covensky of Monahans, Texas. She was a proud grandmother to 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Lucille was married to John Covensky, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded by her daughter Cheryl Wilbur; her parents; her sister Margie Pippin; and her brother Dick O’Brien. 

Known affectionately as “Gram” by many in Monahans, Lucille found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Some of her fondest memories were made with them at the Monahans Sandhills. She loved animals and shared a special bond with her beloved dogs Charlie, Buddy Boy, as well as her cherished “Fat Cat” to name just a few.

 A private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local hospice organization in honor of Lucille’s memory.
