Manuel Cristobal Garcia, 81, of Monahans, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family in Odessa, Texas.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Harkey Funeral Home, located at 210 S. Allen, in Monahans, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 1 p.m., at the Ward County Coliseum. Arrangements are by Harkey Funeral Home.

Manuel was born on March 23, 1944 to Juan and Cleotilda Garcia, in Clovis, New Mexico. Manuel married Mary Elizabeth (Contreras) Garcia on July 22, 1972, in Muleshoe, Texas. Manuel served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Manuel was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii. Manuel and Mary had one child, Michael Garcia, born in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1974. Manuel honorably discharged from the Army in 1979 and moved back to Muleshoe, Texas. Manuel & Mary had another child born in Lubbock, Texas, Daniel Garcia, in 1985. Manuel was employed as a mechanic in Muleshoe for nearly a decade. Manuel and Mary moved to Monahans and he continued to work as a mechanic and retired from being a mechanic. Manuel enjoyed working with his hands. Manuel enjoyed gardening and was very proud of his sunflowers. Manuel enjoyed wood working and created treasures out of what people would think was junk. Manuel would use old farm equipment to create some projects. Manuel was extremely proud of all of his grandchildren and what they became as adults. Manuel would enter cook-offs throughout the Permian Basin and even won some cook offs. During these cook-offs, he would take Mary and their grandson, Joseph Garcia to assist him during these cook-offs. People and musicians at these cook-offs knew Manuel as the “Roadrunner”.

Manuel is preceded in death by his mother, Cleotilda Garcia, father, Juan Garcia, step mother, Vicente (Velasquez) Garcia, brother, Jose Garcia, daughter, Tillie Garcia, and grandson, Mark Anthony Garcia.

Manuel is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Mary Garcia, of Monahans, two sons, Michael Garcia, wife Erica Garcia, of Monahans, Daniel Garcia, wife Sylvia Garcia, of Monahans, three brothers, Juan Garcia Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada, Blase Garcia of Copperas Cove, Texas , and Dickie Garcia of Las Vegas, Nevada, two sisters, Laura Garcia of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Rosa Garcia of Amarillo, Texas, eight grandchildren, Adrian Garcia of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Jonathan Garcia of Monahans, Joseph Garcia of Monahans, Richard Ortiz of Monahans, Amelia Garcia of Monahans, Daylin Uribe of Monahans, and Flora Ortiz of Monahans, three great grandchildren, Nate Garcia, Ezra Garcia, and Sarai Garcia all of Alamogordo, New Mexico. Manuel is also survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family members. Manuel was never a stranger to anyone and was loved dearly. He will be deeply missed.
