It is with great sorrow and a heavy heart that we confirm the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Maria Contreras. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on May 22, 2025.
Maria was born in Pecos, TX. On March 16, 1950, where she resided with her family until the age of 8 years old. Her family relocated to Monahans, Texas where she later graduated from Monahans High School. Maria enjoyed crafts, camping, and traveling. She personified kindness and patience to everyone she encountered. We will forever remember our beloved mother for her smile, unconditional love, and laughter. She is proceeded in death by her parents; Florencio and Esilia Nunez and her four brothers. She is survived by her husband Eliseo Contreras Jr. and her three daughters: Tracey Blanco, Tammy Contreras, and Tara Conteras. She also leaves behind two sons-in-law; David Blanco, Armando Gonzales Jr. Grandchildren; Christopher Terrazas, Danielle Flores, Gabrielle Flores, Seth Blanco, and Nicole Gonzalez and two great grandchildren; Cole Granados and Mila Rae Gonzalez and four sisters.
The Pallbearers will be Christopher Terrazas, Seth Blanco, David Blanco, Armando Gonzales Jr., Paul Dominguez, and Ethan Flores. Viewing will be held at Harkey Funeral Home on May 27, 2025, from11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and May 28, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Church services will take place at St. John the Apostle and Evangelist Catholic Church May 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Maria will be laid to rest following the service at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
