Paula Najar, 83, of Barstow, TX, passed away peacefully on March 4,2026 in Monahans, TX surrounded by her family.
She was born on June 26, 1942, in Barstow, TX to Epifanio and Juanita Lopez.
Paula worked as a housekeeper at the young age of 21 for numerous years with Alfonso and Gloria Vasquez. Then after a few years, she started working at the A1 cleaners where she stayed for many years. While also working for The Big Burger for Dan and Elaine Wetzig. She worked both jobs for 20+ years until she retired in 2009 due to health complications and remained a homemaker until her untimely passing.
Paula was known for being a hard worker, loyal, and honest. In her free time, Paula enjoyed spending time with her family, her grandbabies, sitting outside enjoying nature and attending Iglesia Bautista del Calvario.
Paula is survived by daughters Valerie Garcia, and Stella Santiago (Angel), of Monahans, TX, Priscilla Martinez (Arthur) and Guadalupe Garcia of Odessa, TX, sons Trinidad Lara (Belinda) and Timothy Najar of Monahans, TX. She had 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Sisters Frances Lopez of Monahans, TX and Cruz Lopez of Sugarland, Tx. Brother Epifanio “Nino” Lopez, Jr (Delores) of Monahans, TX.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, her spouse Manuel Najar, her sister Susie Lara, and her son in law Manuel R Garcia, Jr.
Pallbearers are as follows: Rodrigo Zavala, Ethan Zavala, Zackary Martinez, Anthony Santiago, Robert Mercado, Edward Soza
Honorary Pallbearers are Ruben Garcia III (lil Ruben), Dario Garcia, Thiago Garcia, Cristobal Garcia, Steven Cole.
Viewing will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM and Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM at Harkey Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church. Burial to follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
