Ramona Ochoa

Ramona Porras Ochoa, 68, of Monahans, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. She was born November 6, 1947 in Grandfalls to Manuel and Guadalupe (Lujan) Porras.

She married Martin G. Ochoa on February 22, 1968 and moved to Monahans shortly after, where she remained and raised all of her children. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. Ramona was a housewife, choosing to stay home to care for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to dance. She enjoyed cooking and caring for her family. She enjoyed life and loved having family around and especially enjoyed the "get togethers" on Sundays. Never at a loss for words, she was very social and never met a stranger. Holidays were her favorite times of the year because she knew all of her family would be together celebrating.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Lupe Porras; and brothers, Manuel and Jesus Porras.

Ramona is survived by her husband of 47 years, Martin Ochoa of Monahans; sons, Johnny Ochoa and wife Bertha, Frankie Ochoa, and Martin Ochoa and wife Morayma, all of Odessa; daughters, Florinda Samaniego and husband Oscar of Monahans, Sonia Krodel and husband Brett of McKinney, and Melissa Barrera of Midland; sisters, Rita Morales and husband Nemesio of Roswell, NM, Socorro Velasquez and husband Jose of Monahans, and Belen Ogden of New Spring, FL; 18 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 11 AM - 8 PM and Friday, December 18, 2015 from 9 AM - 9 PM at Harkey Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited in the chapel Friday evening at 7 PM. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 1 PM at St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. John Lucido officiating, followed by interment at Monahans Memorial Cemetery. Victoria Ochoa, Oscar Samaniego, Jr., Christopher Samaniego, Manny Enriquez, Connor Krodel, Martin Edward Ochoa, Zachary Ochoa, and Isaiha Vega will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Kayla Ochoa.
