Roger Oma Goza passed away Monday October 10, 2016. He was a man of great faith and amazing encouragement to all.
He was born August 20, 1922 to Granville and James Hillary Goza in Joyce, LA.
He spent his early years in the ARK-LA-TEX area. He graduated from Jefferson High School, Jefferson, Texas.
He served six years in the United States Navy. During his hitch in the Navy, he married Bonnie Mae Muckelrath in December 1946.
Upon his return to civilian life, he came to Monahans to join his wife and son Roger Ray. They were living near Bonnie's family. Her family was part of the great "Gulf Oil" migration. Roger played in the Oil Patch, enjoying his work and long-time friendships made during his time there. Although he loved West Texas, he enjoyed spending time at his tree farm in Arkansas.
He was a long time member of Bethel Baptist Church where his final celebration of life will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, October 15, 2016. Burial with honors rendered by the US Navy will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at Harkey Funeral Home 5:00PM-7:00PM Friday October 14, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie Goza and son Roger Ray Goza.
He is survived by his daughters; Lynn Smith and husband Wortham and Nancy Graham and husband John, son; Micah Goza and wife Marcie. Grandchildren Jeremy Goza, Jonathan Goza, Joel Goza, Nicholas Graham, Hillary Graham Stanart, Benjamin Graham, Noah Goza, Aubrey Goza, Chesney Goza, and brother Pete Goza and wife Carolyn. Seven great grandchildren, and many very special nieces, nephews, cousins, along with many, many, friends, and his best "kids" Camilla and Gordon Blum.
