With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ruben C. Valenzuela, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 3, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on February 1, 1953, in Monahans, Texas. Ruben was a beloved spouse, father, sibling, cherished friend, and an inspiration to all who knew him.
Ruben retired from the Monahans City Offices on February 28, 2019, after 25 years of service.
Ruben, served in the United States Navy and was an Airman Handler.
Beyond his professional life, Ruben was deeply committed to spending time with his family, loved fishing, and loved being around his grandchildren.
Ruben is fondly remembered by his wife of 12 years, Diane Sotelo Valenzuela; his children, Randy Valenzuela, Heidi Tobar (Simon), Leandra Oyerbides (Isaac), and Luke Heredia (Elaine); his siblings, Lupe (Paul) Valle, Amado (Mary) Valenzuela, Dora Gonzales, Hope Pipkin, Alice (Joel) Cherry, and Elozia (Joe) Collazo; his seven grandchildren, Mya, Korra, Serenity, Marco (Jen), Brandon, Jackob, and Aden; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended family.
Ruben will be reunited with his predeceased family in the Kingdom of Heaven by his father, Guadalupe Valenzuela; his mother, Maria C. Valenzuela; his brother, Farin Valenzuela; his great nephews, Jonathan Valle, and Nicholas Valle; his niece, Patricia Valle Rangel in eternal peace.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, June 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the Harkey Funeral Home with a rosary being recited at 7:00 PM. Mass is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Friday, June 6, 2025, at St. John the Apostle Evangelist Catholic Church in Monahans, Texas. Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the funeral are: Frarin Valle, Joseph Valle, Matthew Valle, Roger Gonzales, Adam Valenzuela, Chris Cherry, and Luke Heredia.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace and may the souls of all the faithful departed
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
