Sammie Baker

Sammie Ina Mae Baker, 83, formerly of Monahans, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Providence Hospital in Waco. She was born January 11, 1932 in Mertzon, TX to Samuel Wesley and Edith (Watson) Newberry.

On March 29, 1949, she married Robert E. Baker. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1994.

She was a homemaker and was a member of the China Painting Club of Pecos, Midland Doll Club, Midland China Club, and the Permian Basin China Club. She was also a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by her son, Robert Eugene Baker of Monahans; daughters, Ronnie Sue Clearman of Carlton, and Bonnie E. Sims of Liberty Hill; sister, Polly Gant of Truth or Consequences, NM; 8 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Ina is preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Baker; parents, Sam and Edith Newberry; and sister, Ann Silva.

Viewing will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 9 AM - 8 PM at Harkey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5 - 7 PM. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 10 AM at Harkey Funeral Home with Billy Reed officiating. Graveside services will begin at 11 AM (Mountain Standard Time) at Eunice Cemetery in Eunice, NM.
