Saturnino "JunBug" L. Dominguez Jr.

Saturnino L. “JunBug” Dominguez Jr., age 67, was a true legend who passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, surrounded by family in the comfort of his home in Brownwood, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unyielding strength.

JunBug was born on November 19, 1958, in Fort Stockton, Texas, to Josephine L. Perez and Saturnino M. Dominguez.

JunBug embodied the spirit of determination and resilience. His life was marked by many accomplishments. He graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1978, and during that time he joined the boxing program under Coach James Ward. That passion stayed with him throughout his life as he continued mentoring and helping youth. He enjoyed offering guidance and teaching not just the sport of boxing, but also the discipline and structure that came with it. His dedication took him as far as Marquette, Michigan, and Mexico City, Mexico, preparing young athletes for the Junior Olympics. Many boxers he trained are still well known today.

Throughout his life, JunBug worked for the City of Fort Stockton for 25 years and later for Ward County for 10 years. In his downtime, he kept yards looking good all around the area. Eventually, he retired from Monahans, Texas, and made his home in Brownwood.

From an early age, it was clear that JunBug had a knack for humor, and he never met a stranger—just friends he hadn’t talked to yet (no, seriously!). Though friends and family knew his real job was being the person everyone could count on. If you ever sat down for a conversation with him, you’d probably leave with a funny story or advice you didn’t know you needed. He loved telling stories that seemed to get a little longer each time they were told, and they almost always ended with his favorite phrase: “That’s life.”

JunBug loved the outdoors—whether he was working, taking a stroll along the walking trails, sitting by the water with his cafecito (chanate), listening to music, or enjoying a good audiobook.

His legacy will forever resonate through the lives of those who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Jo Dominguez; his brother, Sammy L. Dominguez; and his mother-in-law, Estella Pesina.

JunBug is survived by his wife, Marie Dominguez of Brownwood; his daughters, Naomi (Mando) Franco of Fort Stockton, Stephanie (Justin) Aaron of Fort Stockton, Emilee Dominguez of Abilene, and Lily Dominguez; his sons, Sam Dominguez of Fort Stockton and Josef (Tristin) Hamilton of Odessa; along with numerous grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings: Auralia Dominguez of San Angelo; Gabriel (Janie) Dominguez of Seguin; Jesse (Claudia) Lopez of Lubbock; Valerie Dominguez of Fort Stockton; George (Nellie) Dominguez of Fort Stockton; sister-in-law, Debra (Eric) Pryor of Gatesville; and brother-in-law, Ron (Sarrah) Moreles of San Angelo.

If you were lucky enough to know JunBug, you probably have a story about him—one that makes you laugh, shake your head, or smile. Those stories are now part of his legacy. So keep telling them, keep sharing the laughter, and remember the man who never met a stranger and always reminded us: “That’s life.”
