Monahans

Stennie Louise “Lucy” Breazeale, 78, of Monahans, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on May 31, 2026.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, June 5, 2026, at Harkey Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Jasso officiating.

Lucy was born on June 4, 1947, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Stennie C. and Velma E. Hanks. As a young child, she was adopted through kinship adoption and was raised in Monahans, Texas, where she attended school from elementary through high school. During her high school years, Lucy was an active member of the school band and enjoyed being involved in school activities.

Lucy began her career as a secretary at General Tire & Rubber in Odessa, Texas. It was there that she met the love of her life, John Richard “Rick” Breazeale, who was working while attending college and pursuing his degree in accounting. Their chance meeting blossomed into a lifelong love story, and the couple shared 59 wonderful years of marriage together.

Throughout their marriage, Lucy and Rick made their home in several Texas cities, including Dallas, Houston, and Corpus Christi. After many years away, they returned to Monahans when Lucy’s mother, then 92 years old and blind, needed care and support. Lucy moved back into the same home where she had grown up, a place filled with cherished memories and family history.

Lucy was a lifelong Christian whose faith guided her throughout her life. She was known for her kind heart, devotion to her family, and unwavering love for those around her. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and creating lasting memories with those she loved most.

She is survived by her devoted husband, John Richard “Rick” Breazeale; her sons, Jason C. Breazeale and Aaron M. Breazeale; her granddaughter, Kayla B. Lario and husband, Steven Lario; her grandson, Tyler C. Breazeale; her great-grandchildren, Kynzie Lynn Lario, Elijah James Lario, and Cole Elliot Lario; along with numerous extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Lucy leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and dedication to family. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her steadfast devotion to those she loved, and the many lives she touched throughout her 78 years.
