Tommy King

Tommy Ross King, 63, of Monahans, passed away Monday, September 7, 2015 at Ward Memorial Hospital. He was born January 3, 1952 in Brownwood, TX to Garland Eugene and Myrtle (Wallace) King.

He married Susan Alice Lindquist in Monahans on May 27, 1972.

He was a law enforcement officer and Chief of Police for Monahans-Wickett-Pyote ISD. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of time trapping and fur buying, hunting, and fishing. Tommy grew up in Monahans and has always been an avid Lobo supporter. He was a Lobo booster and a member of various law enforcement associations. Tommy was known in the community as "The Fireworks Guy" and he and his wife were known as "The Christmas Lights People." He and Sue enjoy decorating their house and yard and synchronizing the Christmas lights to music, and considered it their gift to the community. He was a kind, loving, and giving person. He loved spending time with his loving wife, daughters, son-in-law, and grandsons.

He is preceded in death by his father, Garland King; and brother, Jack King.

Tommy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sue King of Monahans; daughters, Kelly Christine Carter and husband Joshua, and Heather Ann Boone, all of Monahans; mother, Myrtle King of Monahans; brothers, Wayland King and wife Shirley of Imperial, and Terry King and wife Joanie of Monahans; sister-in-law, Sue King of Grand Prairie; 4 grandchildren, Braeden and Zachary Carter and Fisher and Hunter Boone, all of Monahans; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 9 AM - 8 PM at Harkey Funeral Home. Family will receive friends for visitation from 3 - 6 PM. Funeral services will be Friday, September 11, 2015 at 1 PM at First Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Inman officiating, followed by interment at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
