Tommy Rice, 90, of Wickett, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Funeral services will be held at Wickett Baptist Church at 3:00pm on Saturday, February 24, 2024. Burial at the cemetery in Pyote.
Tommy was born in Carbon, Texas to Henry F. Rice and Amy Avery Rice. He went to Carbon and Scranton schools then served in the US Army 1953-1955. Tommy married Nell Davis on February 4, 1956 in Ballinger, TX. They moved back to Carbon to farm and operate a heavy equipment business. In 1980 they moved to Wickett, TX and continued in the heavy equipment operations. Tommy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wickett, TX.
Tommy is survived by his sons Mark of Gorman, TX, Lin and wife Elizabeth of Midland, TX, Robert of Carbon, TX and Tommy and wife Nan of Wickett, TX, as well as his twin sister Dora Faye Simmons of Cisco, TX and sister-in-law Jan Rice of Clyde, TX. Tommy is also survived by his 7 grandchildren Zachary, Jody, Jennifer, Ray, John, Cody and Henry; and his 7 great-grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Mary and Louise, 3 brothers John and Carl and Claude, wife Nell, a son Donald E. Rice (Shasta) and a grandson Rodney Rice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
