Virginia Carrasco Banegas, 86, of Monahans, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at the Permian Residential Care Center/Westbrook Village in Andrews, Texas.
Virginia was born on May 15, 1939, in Saragosa, Texas, to Pedro and Josefa Carrasco. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved hosting family gatherings in her home alongside her devoted husband, Jesus, creating a place where generations of family shared joy, laughter, and cherished memories.
She was a faithful member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Monahans and an active participant in the Sacred Heart women’s group. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life and guided her love and service to others.
Virginia is survived by her children: Jesus Banegas, Jr. and Richard Banegas of Monahans, Texas; and Sandra Banegas Burke and husband Warren of Odessa, Texas. Virginia’s legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Blanca Smith of San Antonio, Texas; Ben Banegas of Odessa, Texas; Amy Banegas of Andrews, Texas; and Ernest Rey Marquez and wife, Rhonda of Midland, Texas. She was also blessed with her great-grandchildren: Madilyn Smith, Reyna Smith, Logan Smith, Jace Banegas, Olivia Banegas, Servando Olivas, Sebastian Olivas, Jessie Bejarano, and Charlotte Marquez. She is also survived by her brother, Charlie Carrasco and wife Dora of Odessa, Texas; sisters Elvira Dominguez and husband Cipriano of Georgetown, Delaware; and Rosie Nunez of Odessa, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jesus Banegas, Sr.; her parents, Pedro and Josefa Carrasco; her brother, Henry Carrasco; and her sister, Martina Carrasco Lopez.
Virginia will be remembered for her deep love for family, unwavering faith, and strength she carried throughout her life. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. The loss we feel is deep and real, yet it is tempered by the knowledge that love endures. The lessons, laughter, and kindness given so freely will echo through generations, shaping lives yet to come. In times of sorrow, we hold fast to the memories that sustain us, finding comfort in the knowledge that Virginia’s journey continues in the hearts of all who loved her. As we say goodbye, let us celebrate not only what has been lost but all that has been gained by having known such a remarkable woman. May her legacy inspire us to approach each day with kindness, to cherish those we hold dear, and to strive always to make the world a little brighter.
