Wilma Ernestine Vinson, 72, of Grandfalls, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on July 27, 2026.
Wilma was born on January 21, 1954, in Artesia, New Mexico, to Jack Ernest McCabe and Wilma Jean Owen. She built a life centered on faith, family, and serving those she loved. A devoted homemaker, Wilma found joy in the simple things and had a remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel welcome and cared for.
She shared a loving marriage with her husband, Larry Wayne Vinson, and together they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.
Wilma was a woman of many talents and interests. She loved sewing and quilting, baking, canning fruits and vegetables, cooking for family and friends, gardening, fishing, and taking scenic drives and day trips. She also enjoyed thrift shopping, working alongside her family on carpentry and mechanical projects, and had a special love for horses and dogs. Turquoise jewelry and the color purple were among her favorites.
One of Wilma’s greatest joys was caring for babies, and her nurturing heart touched countless lives. Family and friends will always remember her beautiful eyes that seemed to change color and the unmistakable twinkle they carried whenever she smiled. Above all else, Wilma’s greatest strength was her unwavering faith, which guided her throughout her life and served as an inspiration to those who knew her.
Wilma is preceded in death by her father, Bud Brown; and her son, Joe Iness.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Vinson; her children, Eva Gonzales and her spouse, John, Hondo Iness and his spouse, Kristy, Matt Vinson and his spouse, Mandy, Rowdy Vinson and his spouse, Rowen; her mother, Wilma High; 7 siblings; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
