Monahans

Elizabeth Nicole Truex McKenzie, of Monahans, went to be with our Lord on June 1, 2021.  Elizabeth was born in Odessa to Patrick and Catherine Truex on July 31, 1992.  She grew up in Monahans and graduated from Monahans High School in 2010.  She was an active Girl Scout for many years. She especially enjoyed camping with the scouts.  Elizabeth was an avid tennis player throughout high school.  She won one tournament with a cast on her left arm and playing in the rain.  Elizabeth married her sweetheart and protector, Scott McKenzie on October 4, 2019.  She worked in retail and last worked at Ace Hardware in Monahans as assistant manager.  She was a wonderful and proud mother.  Elizabeth loved being a mother to her precious daughter Ember.  She was an exceptional homemaker and taught herself to be a good cook.  She studied the Bible and went to church.  Elizabeth was a good writer.  She became a motorcycle enthusiast and was a member of the Double Diamond Motorcycle Club where she was Club Secretary and later served as Region 12 C.O.C.&I. (Council of Clubs and Independents) Secretary.  She actively worked on getting local and state legislation for motorcycle safety and rights. She was responsible for getting several bills introduced into the Texas State Congress.  She was also a member of the Texas Defenders and the Patriot Guard.  Elizabeth enjoyed riding her Harley all over town and to her favorite places.  She had a beautiful spirit and had many friends. Elizabeth loved God and she loved her family.  She will be greatly missed.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Scott McKenzie and their daughters Ember McKenzie and Ashlynn Floyd.  She is also survived by her parents Patrick and Catherine Truex, her brother Joshua and grandparents Allan and Laura Spearman and Mary Truex.  She has many aunts, uncles and cousins.      We all love Elizabeth very much and will miss her so deeply.
