Eufemia Reyes

March 20, 1936 — April 26, 2023

Our beautiful beloved mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, aunt and sister Eufemia V. Reyes of Monahans Texas earned her angel wings surrounded by her loved ones at home on April 26th 2023 under the care of Star Hospice. Eufemia was born on March 20th, 1936. She married Placido M. Reyes on August 12th, 1950, this beautiful couple will be celebrating 73 years of marriage.

Eufemia was an active member of the St. John’s Catholic Church, she volunteered with the CCD Youth classes, and helped with preparations of food for church functions. She was a member of the Sacred Heart, and a volunteer with the Special Olympics and other local organizations. Eufemia was an active donor to St. Jude’s, Special Olympics and Wounded Warriors. Eufemia has two son’s George and Martin Reyes who served in the US Navy during Operation Desert Strom, known as the Persian Gulf War, and a grandson Billy Barnett who served in the US Army during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Jamie and Jordan Martinez are proudly serving with the US Air Force, and Ruben Martinez 3rd is serving with the US Navy. It was during these times Eufemia would organize and volunteer in Homecoming events for our military.

Eufemia had a love like many grandmothers for all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She loved playing bingo, dominoes, which was her favorite, and going to the casinos. She was very competitive when it came to playing games with her grandchildren. Eufemia had a passion for gardening especially roses and painting. She would light up any room with her presence. Eufemia was a loving woman with a big heart, and a sense of humor that was undeniable. She holds a special place with each one of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Eufemia is proceeded in death by her mother Guadalupe M. Vale and her 13 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband Placido M. Reyes and her seven children. Pete and Margie Reyes of Humble TX, Beatrice Reyes and beloved Ruben H Martinez of Monahans TX, Ernestina and Anthony Mason of Odessa TX, Elizabeth and Joe Romo of Monahans TX, George and Sheri Reyes of Temecula CA, Martin and Graciela Reyes of Euless TX, and Leroy and Angela Denise Reyes of Round Rock TX. 23 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 8 great- great grandchildren. Eufemia will be escorted by grandsons Jaime Martinez, Billy Barnett and great grandson Jordan Martinez. Pall Bearers are her grandsons Patrick Reyes, Mario Sotelo, Adam Sotelo, Andrew Romo, Ruben Martinez III, Jeremy Reyes and Isaac Reyes.

Rosary is to be recited on Friday April 28th 2023 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Monahans TX at 7pm. Funeral will be held on Saturday April 29th 2023 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Monahans TX at 1pm. In lieu of flowers the family asks you donate to the American Cancer Society.
