Janas Areleene Miles, 83, of Monahans, died March 15, 2023, at Legacy Ranch Memory Care facility, in Midland, Tx after battling a lengthy illness.

Janas was born on May 12, 1939, to Emmett Clarence and Pearl Esther Flatt, in Ada, Ok., where  she spent her early years. The family later relocated to Odessa, Tx., where she attended school, and later met the love of her life, Ray Miles.

Janas married Ennis Ray Miles on April 4, 1957, and they had two children, Danny Ray, and Matthew Russell.
Janas was a housekeeper, and devoted her life to her husband, children, and grandchildren. While raising her boys, she volunteered her time serving with PTO and different school functions. She loved to bake and cook for her boys and her husband and took great delight in watching her boys participate in extracurricular activities.  Janas supported them in every aspect of their lives, and she loved their wives as if they were her own. Janas excelled at sewing, knitting, and had a flair for fashion and cosmetics. She was always sharing tips and tricks of these things and continued to do so for the remainder of her life.

Janas and Ray were crazy about each other and shared many hobbies together. One of their most favorite things to do was work outside on their lawn and garden. They  worked on it daily to ensure that they had the best grass for their grandkids to play on. They found great joy in keeping up with the landscaping, even though it was hard work- they always had their grandkids’ best interest at heart. A big part of that landscaping was maintaining the most beautiful rose bushes. Ray always made it a point to trim off roses and set them in a vase for Janas after they bloomed, which brought her so much happiness.

Another hobby they enjoyed was attending all of the extracurricular events of their grandchildren. You could always count on them showing up and supporting their grandchildren whether it was a swim meet, baseball game, basketball, football, etc. You would always see Janas and Ray beaming with pride and joy as they enjoyed the extracurricular events of their grandchildren.

Janas had a full heart of love and found great delight in buying gifts for all of her children and grandchildren, and later great grandchildren. She always wanted to make sure they were cared for and had what they needed.

Janas loved music and sharing her favorite pastimes and stories with her family. Pulling out photo albums and going through pictures and talking about her family heritage was something she loved to share. It made her happy to be in the presence of her grandchildren in hopes that they would later pass on the same stories. This is why she found such great delight in getting to see pictures and videos of her beloved grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, as well as her brothers and sisters.

Janas is survived by her sons, Danny (Pam) and Russell (Barbara), as well as five grandchildren Noah (Amanda), Jared (Caitlin), Mackenzie (Ryan), Erin (Drik), and Kelsea (Robert). She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, and several cousins.

Graveside services will be held at Monahans Memorial Cemetery on Saturday March 18, 2023, at 2 pm with Rev. Jeppie Wilson officiating, with interment to follow.
