Janie Brandenburg

November 23, 1944 — February 8, 2022

Janie Alvis Brandenburg, 77, was surrounded by her loving family when she went to meet her Savior on February 8, 2022, in Monahans, Texas. She was born on November 23, 1944, in Brownwood, Texas to Alvis Abernathy and Lea Eva Abernathy. The family moved to Grandfalls, Texas in 1955.

Janie was happily married to Ronnie Brandenburg for 62 years. They raised five children together along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, animals, and critters. There was never a quite moment or an empty seat around the table at “Aunt Janie’s!” Janie was always up for an adventure, as was apparent in traipsing all the way from Grandfalls to Alaska with all five kids in tow. Ronnie’s job took the couple to many different places, and wherever they lived Janie made new friends and was always looking for ways to help and serve others. She worked at various jobs throughout her life, but her favorite was working on a shrimp boat in Matagorda Bay.

Her generous spirit and dependable character blessed the lives of countless people. That legacy will live on in those who will miss her the most – her friends, her children, her friends, her children, and especially her 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, all of whom she was extremely proud.

Janie is preceded in death by her father, mother, and sister, Patricia Burkhalter.

She is survived by her husband Ronnie Brandenburg, sons, Ronald Brandenburg (Tammy), Gaynor Brandenburg (Beth), Randy Brandenburg (Laura), daughters Rosemary Hardin and Brandi Moore (Robert), and sister Nancy Christopher of Monahans.

Her services will be held on Saturday February 12, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Monahans, Texas with her burial to follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery. Son-in-law, Robert Moore will be officiating the service.
