Jeff Harkey

d. December 27, 2022

Jeffrey Todd Harkey, 39, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 23, 2022 in Abilene, Texas.  He was met by a host of family and friends and especially his Daddy Ray, who he adored his whole life.
Jeff was born August 26, 1983 in Monahans, Texas to Jackie and Judy Harkey.  He grew up in Monahans and attended First Baptist Church where he received Jesus and was very active in the youth group there.  He was very active in youth sports growing up.  He was proud to have been coached in t-ball and baseball by Dextor Nichols, Roy Young, Steve Swarb, and his dad.  He talked often about what these men meant to him, usually all while he was pretending to pitch a baseball.  He also played football and ran track in junior high and high school.  He loved being a part of Monahans High School and had some wonderful coaches and teachers.  Two that were extra special were Gary and Angie Huckabee, who he still talked to regularly.  He graduated from Monahans High School in 2002 and went on to attend Midland College and UTPB.  He had the privalege to coach at Midland Christian School and was a part of earning four state championships while he was there.  He went on to pursue a career in law enforcement with the Midland Police Department and later became a state trooper with the Texas DPS.  He loved law enforcement and was able to eventually start his own company, Harkey Investigation and K-9 Detection.  Training his K-9 Honor was something he cherished.  Jeff loved being able to work with youth and especially coach his own boys in baseball.  He was extremely proud of his kids and there was absolutely nothing he wouldn't do for them.  His family was his favorite job!
Jeff is survived by his wife, Angel Harkey, of Abilene; 5 children, Jacob and Jayden Harkey, of Midland, Jackson Harkey and Breanna Worley of Abilene, and Drake Worley of Tennessee;  his parents, Jackie and Judy Harkey of Odessa; sister, Holly Fossett and her husband Shawn, of Odessa; nephews, Kennedy Beggs and Kason Fossett; nieces, Morgan and Mikalyn Fossett; and a host of family, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
