Helen Joan Horton
Joan was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She departed this world at home surrounded by family on March 13, 2023 at the age of 82.
She was born to Lemuel Pruett and Catherine Mason on September 16, 1940. She graduated from Burkburnett High School in 1957. She met Glenn Horton in Burkburnett in 1957 and they got married on February 6, 1959. They lived in Burkburnett for several years before moving to Monahans in 1968 where they lived ever since.
She was an active member of Southside Baptist Church in Monahans. Her hobbies included sewing, working jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, painting, and spending time at their cabin in Fort Davis. She especially loved spending time with her husband, kids, and grandkids. She loved her church, friends, and family and always filled her home with warmth and kindness.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Catherine Mason and Father, Pruett Mason.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Glenn Horton; two sons, David (Cathy) Horton of Monahans, Texas, Dennis (Latonia) Horton of Leesburg, Texas and daughter, Keri Caldwell of Monahans, Texas. Three grandsons; Mitchel Horton of Odessa, Texas, Logan Horton and Braden Caldwell of Monahans, Texas and one granddaughter, Kaylee Horton of Odessa, Texas; one sister Lynn (Charles) of Ogden, Utah.
Per Joan’s request, a short graveside service will be held on the Monahans Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Harkey Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests and donations be made to southside Baptist Church.
