Kevin Wayne O'Dell

July 22, 1968 ~ September 10, 2022 (age 54)


Kevin Wayne (Bubba) O'Dell, 54, of Odessa TX, passed away on September 10th, 2022 in Odessa, TX. Kevin was born in Monahans, Tx to Jane and David O'Dell on July 22, 1968.

Kevin graduated from Monahans High school in 1986 and remained a proud Lobo for all of his life. After high school graduation, Kevin attended college in San Angelo, Tx until 1988 at which time he served his country in the United States Navy. Kevin served in both Desert Storm and Desert Shield on the USS Detroit until 1992,

Kevin went on to be a Regional Environmental, Health and Safety specialist for companies like Kodiak and Step Energy. Many called him the "safety guru".

Kevin loved serving his community. In recent years he joined the Odessa Chuckwagon Gang and helped them "spread the good word of Odessa, Tx to as many places as they could get their barbecue pits." Kevin's beloved daughter Stormy was born on June 19, 2007 and she became the center of his life.

Kevin later met the love of his life, Claudia, in 2014, asked her to marry him on New Year's Eve 2021 and they married on August 24, 2022.

Kevin is preceded in death by his father David and his sister Patricia, for whom the O'Dell Memorial Scholarship and golf tournament was created. The scholarship and golf tournament were very important to Kevin, and he worked tirelessly every year to make sure that his family could help deserving MHS students attend college.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Claudia O'Dell, his daughter Stormy O'Dell, his mother Jane O'Dell, his sister DeDe O'Dell Goree, and by many friends and family members who loved him dearly.

This year's golf tournament will be held Saturday, September 17th . Following the tournament will be a slide show and celebration of Kevin's life at Ward County Golf Course.

Rosary will be held at Harkey Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 13th at 7 pm. Services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, September 14th at St. John's Catholic Church in Monahans. Burial will be held at a later time.

Kevin was much loved and will be greatly missed by so many.
