Luiza Valenzuela

Luiza P. Valenzuela departed earth to be with our Lord and savior on the morning of July 28, 2022, peacefully surrounded by her loved ones after a long beautiful and blessed 98 years of life.

Luiza was born to Marcos and Josefa Polanco on June 21, 1924, in Pecos, Texas. Luiza grew up to be a very strong, loving, and selfless lady. At the age of 18 she married the love of her life, Simon Valenzuela, in Ft. Stockton, Texas. They remained happily married for 66 years until his passing. The happy couple settled in Monahans Texas where together they raised a beautiful family.

Luiza proudly worked for the Monahans-Wicket-Pyote ISD in the cafeteria before retiring and spending her days with her family whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings. Playing bingo and visiting nursing homes. Luiza, being the kind-hearted and caring person she was, would often be seen visiting and comforting sick friends, letting them know how much she loved them and was praying for them. She was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church and a member of the Sacred Heart Society. Towards the end of her life, she spent five years at the Senior Care nursing home where she made numerous friends and was involved in many resident activities before returning home to be close to and cared for by her loving family.

Luiza is proceeded in death by both of her parents Marcos and Josefa, her loving husband Simon, six of her brothers and two of her sisters.

Luiza is survived by her children Ismael and Connie Valenzuela, Elia and Joe Urquidez, Carmen Salazar, Ray and Delia Valenzuela, Olivia Nastansky, Norma and Barry Wright, Simon and Lorina Valenzuela. Twenty-One grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren. Sisters Martha Arrendondo, Vera Subia, Delia Olivas, and a brother Adan Polanco, as well as a multitude of dear friends.

Rosary will be Friday, July 29, 2022, at 7:00 pm at the Harkey Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am Saturday, July 30, 2022, with Father Joe officiating. Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.

Luiza’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at “Star Hospice” for years of loving and compassionate care provided to our beloved family member.
