Oscar Vasquez Rodriguez, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, passed away on January 8, 2021.

Oscar was born to the late Manuel and Gloria Rodriguez on May 17, 1954, and raised in Pecos, Texas.

Oscar is survived by his loving wife, Estela, and his children, Christie Marie (Joey) Munoz, Andrew Michael (Irene) Rodriguez, Oscar Vincent (Veronica) Rodriguez, Elizabeth Erin Rodriguez (David Cunningham), Vivian (David) Carrasco, grandchildren, Zandria Nicole, Tabitha Jazelle, Joe Nathaniel, Ashlyn Jade, Katalee Reann, Triston Cage,  Asher Levi, Caiden Isaiah, Samuel, Shawn Andrew, Yazmin Inez, Ava Nicole, Noah Alejandro, Isabella (Cookie), Dominick Manuel, Jayce, Oscar Lane, Jazlynn, Nathalie, Ivan, Yovani Axel, +Angelica Marie, Madden Franklin, Brixton Andrew, Joshua David, Jacob Paul.

Left to cherish his memories are his brothers and sisters; Juan (Anita) Rodriguez, Tencha Ward, Lisa Ann (Gabriel) Lara, Daniel (Becky) Martinez, Elida (Frank) Rodriguez, Anna Mary (Armando) Madrid, Samuel (D’Andra) Martinez, Isabel Bobbie (Rudy) Falcon, Joey (Jenny) Martinez, Ricardo (Barbara) Martinez and numerous nieces and nephews.

Oscar was Catholic and attended Santa Rosa de Lima church. He served as a Catechist for Confirmation and First Communion, RCIA and RCIC. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Men's choir, September 16 Committee, and was a Cursillista.

He worked for Pennzoil for twenty-three years. He had several additional positions throughout his career but enjoyed working at Bessie Haynes Elementary his last ten years before retirement.

Oscar also served his community as an emergency medical technician (EMT) volunteer.

Oscar was described by his friends and loved ones as having a heart of gold. He touched so many lives with his unwavering strength, caring heart, and big smile.

The family is grateful for the outpouring of love and sharing of beloved memories where his bear hugs, his laughter, and the light of his love was shared with others.

Although his body may be at rest, the memories we have of him will live in our hearts forever.

A viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Harkey Funeral Home. Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church in Monahans. The funeral mass will be Friday, January 15, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church in Monahans with Fr. Allan Alaka officiating. Burial will follow in Pecos at Mount Evergreen Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
