Robert Najar

September 13, 1926 — February 15, 2022

Monahans

Robert Rodriquez Najar, 95 years, passed away on February 15, 2022 in his home with his wife who he was married for 74 years with and his daughter by his side.

Robert was born on September 13, 1926 in Fort Davis, Texas to Nicholas and Anastacia.  He grew up in Fort Davis, moved around to different towns then finally settled in Monahans in 1954

He was retired, had been self-employed for many years in Masonry Construction Industry.

His daily top priority was that there was always food on the table to eat.

His hobbies always started with praying for everyone, doing family time, talking to the dogs, watching the kids play sports, watching the news to see what happening in the world, interacting with family, conversing and asking questions, drinking coffee, snacking on sweets, cooking his favorite meals specially making his own tortillas, making multiple trips to the grocery store, gardening vegetables, barbequing outside, playing dominos, going to gamble at the Casino in Hobbs and scratching off tickets, wishing that he would hit the Lotto.

His pride and joy was his wife (always spoiling her with coffee in bed, etc), grandchildren (Leslie, Bridgett, Ryan, Scott, Shelbi), great grandchildren (Kyle, Kevin, Matthew & Madi), and great-great grandson (Grayson) and his dogs (Zack and Brownie).  He assisted helping raise them all in one way or other.  They highly respected, loved and called him “Papo”, Father figure in their lives.  He played the role of being a real grandfather/great grandfather by the book, always being there for them no matter what, spending quality time with them and guiding them as best that he could but still spoiling them with what they wanted.  He encouraged higher level education for all of them so they wouldn’t struggle in life financially, have better life than his.  He stressed importance of working hard and saving money.  We were blessed for sure, he was one of a kind, not ever selfish with his time, always made time for all.  He left many memorable memories that will be cherished forever.  His daily presence will be greatly missed by all.

Robert is preceded in death by Sons-Danny and Roger, Dad-Nicholas, Mom-Anastacia, Sisters-Elisa, Leo, Betty, Kina, Julie and brother-Nick, and great grandson Josh.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Dolores (Lola) and daughter, MaryLou.

He will also be remembered and dearly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, February 17 at Harkey Funeral Home.

His memorial service was on Friday, February 18:  Rosary at 2pm, Mass 3pm followed by burial at Monahans Cemetery.

Pallbears:  Ryan Valenzuela, Scott Najar, Kyle Bumpas, Eddie Silvas, Josh Higgins and Oscar Heredia.
